As a wine buyer, I come across many off-the-beaten-path, closeouts, and just fun wines. I currently work at Mega-Bev in Standale, MI, where we carry a broad selection of wine. I love it when I find something unique, or with a great story, or just great bang for the buck! Below are a few that recently caught my attention for one reason or another.

Mary Taylor Anjou Rouge
Famille Biotteau, Loire, FR, 2022
This is an amazingly approachable Cabernet Franc from an outstanding region to grow it if its intent is for a single bottling. OK, polite way of saying Cab Franc is often maligned as merely a “blending grape”, unless care is taken to represent it as itself - and this one definitely sings on its own.
Gorgeous nose with fresh, dark fruit and a hint of leather and spice. The acidity is on par with the gentle fruit and the tannin is soft on the finish, but pleasantly represented, Basically, this is a great any/everyday wine, with or without food!
It’s an exceptional value at $12.99/btl, (normally $18), but that’s a limited supply at that price.
Antigal “Aduentus” Cabernet Franc
Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina, 2018
